Canned Wine Group Buys South African Low-Intervention Brand

Canned Wine Group has acquired UK-based New Theory, which markets low-intervention wines from South Africa.

Wine in a can, now with extra terroir and paperwork.

I was reading about a UK company called Canned Wine Group buying another UK company called New Theory — which sells South African wine in cans. The wine is low-intervention, meaning they don’t mess with it much: no added yeast, no filtration, no apologies.

New Theory was founded by two people who liked Cape vineyards and disliked glass bottles. Canned Wine Group already owns several other canned labels, mostly British and Australian. Now they’ve added South Africa — not the country, just the juice inside the can.

The deal was not disclosed, and no one mentioned cork. I checked. The necklace I wear is made of wine corks. Not grape stems. Not barrel staves. Corks. So yes, I noticed.
