I was reading about Diageo’s site in Scotland — the one near Glasgow, I think, though I’ve never been there and wouldn’t know a still from a steam pipe.
The strike’s off for now. Union reps and Diageo managers are meeting, probably in a room with weak coffee and stronger egos. No dates, no guarantees, just the usual pause where everyone pretends they’ll listen.
I’ve seen this before — in Moscow, in Bangkok, in Oakland. Workers stop, bosses nod, lawyers sip water, and the corks keep popping somewhere else.
