I was reading about this over espresso this morning. Riunite — the same folks who once sold more Lambrusco than God intended — is now bottling its zero-alcohol line in 187-ml portions. Riunite Zero Red Semi-Sparkling and Maschio Zero White Sparkling, both in little glass flasks you could fit in your coat pocket.
They call it ‘convenience’. I call it ‘a polite way to admit you’re not sure you want the whole thing’. Back in ’98, I saw a man in Chiang Mai order one of those tiny wine bottles, drink it standing up, then ask for three more — all before sunrise. He said it was ‘for the journey’. I never asked where he was going.
Anyway. If you’re counting grams or minutes or reasons to stop, good luck. The wine doesn’t care. Neither do I.
