Judge Blocks Bid to Stop Uncle Nearest Asset Sale

A US judge rejected a motion by Uncle Nearest's former CEO to stop a possible sale of most of the company's assets.

Garry says:

Former CEO wants to stop the sale. Judge says no.

I was reading about Uncle Nearest — the Tennessee whiskey brand named after Nathan 'Nearest' Green, the Black distiller who taught Jack Daniel how to make whiskey. Their former CEO, Fawn Weaver, filed a motion asking a federal judge to halt a possible sale of most of the company’s assets.

The judge denied it. No explanation was given in the ruling, just a clean, quiet no.

Uncle Nearest has been in legal turbulence for months — board disputes, leadership changes, questions about control and direction. The brand still sells well, though. People still buy the bottle for the story, the legacy, the taste. Or maybe just because it looks good on the shelf next to the others.
