I was reading Southern Living — yes, that Southern Living — about whether the whiskey boom is over. An industry expert says growth has slowed, shelves are fuller, and the frenzy around rare bottles has cooled. People aren’t flipping bottles like crypto anymore.
Distilleries built on hype are now sitting on inventory. New entrants aren’t getting the same shelf space or bar taps. The bubble didn’t burst — it just stopped expanding.
The expert didn’t say ‘we’re doomed’. Just that the next phase won’t feel like the last ten years. Which is fine. Whiskey was never meant to be a stock ticker.
